Common First Aid Mistakes To Avoid
Whenever you get injured accidentally, the first step you or others take for your rescue is called first aid. Normally first aid is done at home or at the site of accident until you are taken to hospital for further care.
First aid can save your life as it is an attempt to stop your bleeding. It improves or restarts your breathing & helps in cardiac resuscitation (to start the heart beat) or covering your wounds and treating poisonous insect bites at home.
Foods That Make You Happy With Your Body Size
Everyone must know the tips of first aid treatment to avoid first aid mistakes and it can save his or other lives during an accident.
However, while doing first aid you must know the basic tips otherwise you will put the patients life in danger. We will share with you some of the common first aid mistakes to avoid.
Simple And Interesting Things To Calm Your Anger
Have a look at some of the most common first aid mistakes to be avoided.

Delaying The Treatment Of Burn Injury
Avoid applying ice cubes directly on the burn injury. You can hold the burn area under running water to soothe and get relief from the burn. Using cold water on burns is one of the important tips on first aid.

Wash Your Hands First
To use the first aid kit you need to wash your hands first if you are going to clean the wound with an anti-septic lotion. This prevents the transmission of infection to the wounded person. Infections can easily enter the blood through the abraded skin.

Applying Heat To Sprains, Strains And Fractures
It may seem that heat will offer relief from pain but heat aggravates swelling and it delays the healing process. Instead of heat patches you can put ice on the affected surface for 15 minutes. Ice reduces swelling immediately.

Putting An Object Inside Seizure Patient's Mouth
During an convulsion attack, the person tightly closes his mouth and may bite his tongue. However, don't force any object into his mouth to save the teeth and tongue. This may cause jaw fracture, chipping of teeth and any other mouth injury. Instead shift the person to a comfortable place. Place a pillow below his head and call an ambulance.

Causing The Person To Vomit In Case Of Poisoning
Before you induce vomiting in a poisoned person you have to know what kind of poison he has ingested. If he has ingested a corrosive poison then inducing vomiting can burn his air ways and lungs also. Inducing vomiting can also cause the poison to enter the lungs and then blood. This cause instant death.

Don't Apply A Tourniquet
It means that you tie a cloth tightly over the bleeding area to stop bleeding. However it causes more damage as blood flow is stopped. Best way to stop bleeding is to put a sterile cloth over the bleeding area and put some pressure on it until they are shifted to a hospital. This is one of the most common first aid mistakes.

When To Apply A Tourniquet
Tourniquets are only applied in case of snake or other insect poisoning to prevent the spreading of poison throughout the body.

Don't Try To Fish Out Debris From The Eye
If something solid particle goes inside the eyes don't put any object inside the eye to remove it. This can damage the eye and can result in severe injury. Instead put a paper over the eye and shift the person to doctor.

If Acid Or Any Chemical Goes Inside Eye
Just wash your eyes under running water continuously for 15 minutes without any delay. This will remove all the chemical from eyes until shifted to hospital.

Don't Apply Any Cosmetic Cream Or A Talc On The Injury
Doing this can cause severe infections as these products may contain bacteria as they are not sterile. Only use surgical cotton and surgical dressing over the wound. Avoid these first aid mistakes to prevent infections.

Don't Put Your Finger Inside The Person's Throat
If some object is stuck in a persons throat, don't remove it using your fingers inside the throat as accidentally the object may go further inside the wind pipe. You can give back and abdominal thrusts for 5 or more times. Don't do abdominal thrusts in kids.
