Ways To Avoid Getting Sick This Monsoon
The enjoyment of monsoon season is always hampered by the fear of getting sick. Catching the flu or cold is a common occurrence. This is due to the sudden fluctuations in the temperature. You will inevitably get drenched frequently, even though you take as many precautions as you can to avoid it.
The risk of contracting an illness is always high. If your immune system is not a highly developed one, you will definitely be prone to frequent bouts of sickness during this wet season. You should try to avoid the cold gusts of wind that are the aftermath of heavy showers.
Since there is a definite chance of getting sick, you should take the necessary precautions to avoid it. There are some fail-safe ways to keep yourself healthy and free of sickness during the rainy season. Here are a few ways to avoid getting sick during the monsoons.

Protect Yourself From Rain
Just because you enjoy the monsoons does not mean you have to get drenched from head to toe every time there is a downpour. Make sure you always have an umbrella at hand when you venture out, even if it does not look like it's going to rain. An additional raincoat and cap will offer extra protection from the unyielding rains. Waterproof shoes are necessary to ensure that your feet are not soaked.

Drink Water
Staying hydrated is an essential part of protecting the health of your body. During the monsoons, your body will lose copious amounts of sweat due to the humidity. The body is mostly made up of water, so when you do not stay hydrated; it affects the immune system and decreases the body's ability to fight diseases.

Practise Cleanliness
Every time you venture inside from the rain, make sure to wash your hands and feet. You might have accidentally stepped into puddles on your way home, and simply wiping your feet will not get rid of all the bacteria and germs. Doctors always recommend washing your hands as common cold is usually contracted through dirty hands. So make it a habit to wash hands and carry hand sanitisers.

Soup Time
Monsoons are the perfect time to have soup. It will be an excellent food to have when you come in from the cold, wet showers outside. A bowl of steaming hot soup is excellent for clearing up phlegm. It also acts as an excellent cleanser by removing the harmful bacteria and waste in the body.

Take A Shower
It is necessary to take a shower every time you get soaked in a rainfall. This is to avoid contracting diseases that occur due to a sudden and drastic change in the body temperature. The shower helps stabilise the body temperature and slowly lowers it from the biting cold back to its normal temperature.

Proper Sleep
Lack of proper sleep will throw your body's immune system off balance. Sleep deprivation will negatively affect your body's abilities to fight the diseases that assault it. So make sure that you catch a minimum of 6 hours of sleep at least to keep your body healthy and able to fight diseases and infections.

Exercise Regularly
Do not avoid exercising, just because of the wet weather. There are plenty of exercises you can do inside your home which does not require you to step out. Plenty of exercising will reduce stress and boost immunity. It will reduce the chances of contracting any infections.

Balanced Diet
Proper nutrient intake is essential for a properly functioning immune system. Eating a diet rich in vegetables will ensure an easy and quick recovery from any infections that you might contract.
