French Women Do Get Fat!

Despite being a haven for mouth-watering pastries, cheese and wine, women in France have long been marvelled for their ability to stay slender.
However a survey conducted by TNS Sofres Healthcare and the Swiss pharmaceuticals company, Roche has altered the notion by revealing that 15 per cent of the women in France are obese, while another 26 per cent are overweight.
In 2004, author Mireille Guilano in the book titled French Women Don''t Get Fat praise the eating habit of French women who do not snack between meals. However, cutting back into reality, average French women have put on almost 7 lbs and almost 2 inches around the waist.
The main cause behind it is the infiltration of fast food among urban women. With a concentration of sedentary jobs, public transport and lesser chance to walk, obesity rates have risen sharply in urban areas.
