What is Fruit Salsa?
The fruit salsa, also known as pico de gallo, is a raw salsa made with fresh fruit, chilies, onions, and lime juice. Popular salsa variations include peach, mango, pineapple, black bean, corn, avocado, and green tomatillo.

Salsas are versatile and can be served with a variety of foods. They can be eaten with nachos, boiled vegetables, or just by themselves.
Healthy Salsa Recipes For Energy
1. Pineapple salsa
Ingredients
- 1 tomato
- 1/2 cup minced red onion
- 1 jalapeño chili pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 pineapple
- 1/3 cup chopped cilantro, including tender stems
- 2 teaspoons fresh oregano, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- Sugar (optional)
Directions
- Combine the vegetables, lime juice, and seasonings in your food processor.
- In the next step, add the pineapple and green chillis and puree once more until almost smooth.
- You may add more cumin and salt to taste, and refrigerate until chilled and ready to serve.
2. Corn-avocado salsa
Ingredients
- 2 ears of fresh corn on the cob
- 1/2 cup minced red onion
- 1 jalapeño chili pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 avocado
- 1/3 cup chopped cilantro, including tender stems
- 2 teaspoons fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dry)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- Sugar (optional)

Directions
- You may cook the corn for less or more time depending on the tenderness of the corn in a large covered pot.
- Once the corn has cooled to the touch, cut the kernels from the cobs.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the salsa and combine well.
- Mix the corn kernels with the remaining ingredients.
- Combine with a toss.
3. Cucumber-honeydew salsa
Ingredients
- 1 large cucumber or 2 small cucumbers
- 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
- 1/4 cup finely diced red, orange, or yellow bell pepper
- 1/2 honeydew
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon minced jalapeño
Directions
- Combine all of the salsa ingredients in a medium bowl, and gently stir to combine.
- If you wish to increase the heat, add more jalapeo.
- The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for several days, covered and chilled.
Is Fruit Salsa Healthy?
