Are tea bags harmful? Whether you prefer black tea or green, it is safer to get tea leaf home instead of buying tea bags.
Of course, tea bags save you so much of time. You can simply dip them in water and your tea gets ready. But what if they are harmful?
Well, current research says that tea bags could be unsafe due to many reasons. And their safety depends on factors like the material used to prepare the tea bag and how those materials are treated during the manufacturing process. Read on to know about some facts.

#1
When you dip a tea bag in extremely hot water, if you observe tiny bubbles or froth, then you have a reason to worry.
A carcinogen known as epichlorohydrin is often coated on the surface of the bags. This substance creates the froth in hot water.

#2
Some tea bags are also made of food-grade nylon and even PVC! Those substances may break down and behave in various ways once they get into hot water.

#3
A majority of the tea bags are said to contain residues of pesticides as well as certain artificial agents added to get flavour.

#4
Generally, paper tea bags are treated with a substance known as epichlorophydrin. When this substance gets into water, it turns into a carcinogen. It is said to hit the immunity and fertility too.

#5
Some bags are made of thermoplastic, nylon, polypropylene, plastic or even PVC. Of course, these materials have high melting points.
But still, they leach certain compounds when they come into contact with hot water.

#6
What is the safest way to consume tea? Well, get organic tea leaves, boil them in water and strain to enjoy healthy tea.
