Warning Signs Of Impending Suicide
Committing suicide is not the solution to all the problems. These days we hear a lot of suicide stories where young as well as adults are opting for this way to end their beautiful lives. Recently, Bollywood actress Jiah Khan committed suicide by hanging herself on the fan. It is said that failed love relationship, career downfall and depression were the causes behind Jiah Khan's suicide. Well, it is not just Jiah Khan. Many other celebrities and common people also opt for this option to end their lives. Suicide is not an instant decision. This psychological thought or idea only strikes the mind when you are not happy about something.
Depression, lack of interest, sadness, stress, failure, failed relationships, and unhappiness are major causes of an impending suicide. Dr Sridhar, Psychologist and Counsellor from Bangalore says, "You know you are suicidal when you encounter a problem. If you know the problem, try solving it. If you are not successful, don't take any final decision due to the inability to solve it". Be it a layman or a celebrity, the thought of committing suicide is what comes as the solution to the prevailing problems, which is wrong.

Symptoms of impending suicide:
- Losing interest in everything
- Bringing up topics on death and suicide
- Thinking life without him/ her
- The urge to die (wishing I didn't wake up today)
- Becoming depressed
These are the symptoms of impending suicide. You might not observe these symptoms so, pay attention to the signs a person with impending suicide shows.
Behavioural changes:
- Stays ideal
- Loves being alone
- Writes about death and suicide
- Change in behaviour, attitude and appearance
- Cries a lot
- Reflects disturbed state of mind
Physical changes:
- Loss of appetite
- Lack of energy
- Sudden weight loss or gain
- Lack of interest in appearance
- Sleeplessness
Mental changes:
- Anxiety
- Helplessness
- Loss of self-worth
- Daydreaming
- Sadness or guilt
- Loneliness
- Mood swings
- Impulsiveness
These are the common signs of an impending suicide. Someone who has attempted suicide before is in danger of committing it again! You need to watch out for such signs of impending suicide to save a life. So, how to overcome the signs of impending suicide? Dr. Sridhar advices, "Concentrate on your state of mind and get over all the thoughts related to sadness and death". This is one simple way to overcome the suicidal behaviour."
