Common Diseases That Can Be Fatal
You may have heard of freaking cases when a 4 days long fever killed someone or a severe food poisoning causes the death of a person. These are not accidents of nature. Even common diseases have the potential to kill you if they are not treated on time. You must realise that it was these common diseases that were considered to be fatal diseases in the past.
Today, as there are medications to cure these diseases, they are called common. However, if they are not treated on time, these diseases can be fatal. Here is a list some very common diseases that can cause death.
High Fever
The trouble with fever is that it can be caused by a number of infections. If malaria or dengue goes undetected for long, it can cause certain death. Even common viral fever can cause death if it turns brain fever. That is why, your temperature needs to be controlled when you have high fever.
Food Poisoning
Food poisoning and diarrhoea causes death of many infants in developing countries. Food poisoning can cause vomiting and loose motion that leads to dehydration and instant death. Just a simple ORS solution can save many lives in case of food poisoning.
Influenza
When a flu virus attacks your lungs it is called influenza. In the later stages, your lungs fill with phlegm and water. Flu viruses mutate every year and if the existing medications are not able to cure it, they can cause death. Swine flu or H1N1 is classic example.
Diabetes
Almost 1/3rd of the Indian population is diabetic. Yet this terribly common disease can lead to sudden death. If you are a diabetic, then a sudden increase or decrease in blood sugar level can cause instant death in certain cases.
Jaundice
Jaundice is a liver disease in which the bilirubin count in your blood increases. It destroys your appetite and digestive power. If it is not detected in time, it can definitely kill a person. But the death due to jaundice will not be sudden; it will be a slow and painful death.
Typhoid
Typhoid is a type of fever that you get due to drinking contaminated water. In case of typhoid, fever is accompanied by diarrhoea and vomiting. If typhoid is not treated, it can kill a person due to dehydration and blood poisoning very quickly.
These were the common diseases that can be fatal. Have you ever suffered from any of these diseases?
