OMAD: Is One Meal A Day Healthy?
Is one meal a day healthy? What is omad fasting? Read on to know everything about this diet.
You must have heard of so many different diet programs but have you heard of OMAD which involves eating only once a day?
Well, those of us who have cravings every hour may not be able to take up this one meal a day program as it involves letting your taste buds savour food only once in the whole day!
Firstly, does it serve any purpose like weight loss? Is one meal a day safe? Here are some more facts about this meal plan.

Fact #1
Firstly, most of us eat around 2500 calories a day. If you are into a sedentary lifestyle, you may not need so many calories.
The OMAD makes it easy to lose weight as you eat only once a day. You tend to get all the calories in a single go from a single meal.

Fact #2
Some studies suggest that OMAD can help in losing weight, improving glucose metabolism, prolonging lifespan and also boosting cognitive health.

Fact #3
In some people, OMAD can also show some side effects like lightheaded feeling, mood swings, nausea, fatigue and irritation.
Generally, such symptoms may show up in the first few days of the diet. But if they persist, it is better to stop following this diet.

Fact #4
Also, in some people who follow OMAD, overeating could occur. This happens due to deprivation. You may eat a lot more as you have not eaten anything during the day. This will do no good as all the lost fat again comes back within no time.

Fact #5
In some, the blood sugar levels may go haywire and this could cause brain fog, irritability and excessive cravings.

Fact #6
As it involves eating only one meal a day, it is recommended to make it very nutritious by including fruits, vegetables, whole grains as well as lean proteins.
Hydration is the next important step. Keep drinking water throughout the day.

Fact #7
Your mind tends to stay fresh and work fast for most of the day. Generally, eating something can slow you down for a few hours. Eating only once a day prevents that. This could also be due to adrenaline and norepinephrine.

Caution
Never try this diet without consulting your doctor. As this diet involves surviving on a single meal a day, let your family doctor consider your case history before you take the decision of following the diet.
