Consuming very low levels of alcohol may help in controlling glucose levels according to this study. But still, health experts say that your doctor is the best person to decide whether your health condition permits wine at all.
As each of us is totally different in how we operate and metabolise food and drinks, it is better to totally rely on health reports and doctor's guidance before trying anything new.

Age Group Of The Study
Most of the participants of the study were above the age of 40 years and they were people who were able to control their type 2 diabetes with healthy food and exercise.

Number Of People And Groups
More than 200 people participated in the study and were divided into 3 groups. One group was given only water with dinner whereas the other two groups were given red wine and white wine respectively.

Duration Of The Study
After a span of nearly a couple of years, the group that drank red wine improved good cholesterol levels though their overall cholesterol levels came down. It is healthy for the heart.

Glucose Levels
The other group which consumed white wine experienced low plasma glucose-levels (fasting).

Blood Pressure
When it comes to the blood pressure, no difference was observed between those who drank water and wine. Other factors which saw no variation in all the groups were liver function and adipose tissue. But wine drinkers said that their sleep quality was much better.

Sugar Metabolism
Another fact that came to light in this study was: genetics also play a role in how your body metabolises sugars. When your body metabolises alcohol slowly, then only you can consume wine being a diabetic.

Conclusion Of The Study
This small study concluded that people who consumed moderate levels of wine along with healthy diet were found out to be healthier than those who didn't.
