20 Minute Red Cabbage Pulav Recipe
Not many are aware of the proteins and health benefits of red cabbage. Did you know; the violet or red cabbage has 10 times more vitamin A than the green cabbage? This yummy veggie also has a high content of water which is also good for those who are on a weight loss program. Violet cabbage is however not liked by many because of the colour. The rich deep violet looks peculiar than the ordinary green cabbage and thus this resents one from eating it.
This afternoon, Boldsky shows you an easy cabbage pulav recipe using the violet cabbage. To prepare this violet cabbage pulav recipe you will need simple ingredients. Moreover, this yummy lunch rice recipe will fill your tummy in a healthy way.

Violet Cabbage Pulav Recipe:
Serves: 2
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes

All You Need
- Red Cabbage - 250 gms
- Green Chillies-
- Sat to taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Rice - 1 cup
- Turmeric- a pinch
- Hing - a pinch

For the Tempering
- Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves - a handful


Procedure
- In a pan, heat a little oil. Wait for the oil to get hot and then add in the curry leaves and cumin seeds. Wait for the seeds to splutter and the leaves to turn a little white in colour.
- When this is done, add in the green chillies and allow it to fry over a medium flame.
- When it is fried crisp. Add in the raw cabbage to the pan and stir it well.
- Drop in salt and sprinkle the turmeric over the cabbage and stir again. Also add in the hing.
- Allow the red cabbage to cook over a low flame. When the cabbage begins to shrink, add in the cooked rice to the pan.
- Stir the cooked rice well with the cabbage and simmer down the flame.
- When done, garnish it with coriander leaves.

Nutrition Tip
The violet or red cabbage has 10 times more vitamin A than the green cabbage. It is a better veggie for weight loss.
Tip
Do not cook the cabbage with too much of oil.
