Chana Dal With Coconut Chutney
Chana dal is widely used in the Indian cuisine. From preparing dals to chutneys, chana dal is one of the popular pulses in the Indian dishes. Chana dal ki chutney is very popular in the Southern states of India. The chana dal chutney is very easy to prepare and can be a spicy chutney for any meal. You can either have chutney as a side dish with rice or roti or smear your dosa with this chutney.
Here is a recipe for chana dal ki chutney which can be used for various purposes. The special ingredient that we have added here is coconut. The flavour of coconut will make the chutney taste all the more delicious. You can make it a spicy chutney by adding some dry red chillies. Take a look at the chana dal with coconut chutney recipe.
Chana Dal With Coconut Recipe

Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Chana dal- ½ cup
- Coconut pieces- a handful
- Dry red chillies- 3
- Tomato- 1
- Curry leaves- 1 sprig
- Water- as required
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
- Heat a wok and dry roast the chana dal for a few minutes.
- When the chana dal looks a little dark brown in colour, let it cool.
- Grind the roasted chana dal with red chillies, coconut pieces, tomato, and curry leaves using little water.
- Add salt as per taste and grind again for a few seconds. When the paste looks fine and semi-thick, remove from the grinder.
Chana dal with coconut chutney is ready to eat. You can serve it with roti or team it as a side dish with rice. If you want, you can also have this spicy chutney with idli or dosa to make it taste all the more delicious.
