Mysore Masala Dosa: Breakfast Recipe
Dosa is a favourite breakfast recipe, not only in South but in almost everywhere in India. It is a comforting, crispy and totally addictive dish which can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Masala dosa is hit among all age groups.
We all love to experiment with the masala. We have tried the paneer masala, cheese, corn, onion and so many other ingredients to make masala dosa. So, what new can we do to make it more interesting? Here we bring you the authentic recipe for Mysore masala dosa. The inner part of this dosa is liberally smeared with ghee or butter, over which a layer of red chutney is spread and then masala is filled.

So, here is the recipe for Mysore masala dosa.
Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 6-8 hours
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
For Dosa
- Rice- 1 cup
- Urad dal- 1 cup
- Chana dal- 2tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 2tbsp
For Masala
- Potatoes- 2 (boiled and mashed)
- Onions- 2 (chopped)
- Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
- Garlic- 3 cloves (chopped)
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
For Red Chutney
- Red chillies- 4-5
- Roasted chana dal- ½ cup
- Coconut- ½ cup (grated)
- Garlic- 2 cloves
- Tamarind pulp- 2tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
1. Wash the rice and the dals properly. Grind them together in a mixer into a fine paste. Keep it aside for about 6-8 hours.
2. Grind all the ingredients listed under red chutney into a fine paste and keep it aside.
3. After 6-8 hours, heat oil in a pan. Add onions and fry till they turn golden brown.
4. Then add garlic, green chillies, turmeric powder and the mashed potatoes.
5. Stir well and add salt.
6. Once done remove from flame and let it cool.
7. Now heat a tawa and spread the rice and dal batter on it. Spread it with a spatula in a round shape.
8. Spread the red chutney with a spoon all over the dosa.
9. Now put the potato filling in the middle.
10. Spread oil with aspoon on all the sides and slowly fold the dosa from one side.
11. Once done, remove from flame nad transfer it to a plate.
12. Follow the same steps to make more dosas.
Mysore masala dosa is ready to be served. Enjoy with coconut chutney and sambhar.
