Methi Missi Roti For Healthy Breakfast
How about starting the day with a green and healthy breakfast? Adding the greens to your menu is always beneficial. Methi or fenugreek is one such wonder herb which not only adds flavour to your food but is also highly beneficial for asthma, bronchitis and indigestion. So, here is a nutritious breakfast recipe for you which is made with fresh fenugreek leaves.
Missi roti is a popular recipe from Punjab. It is prepared with a combination of wheat flour and gram flour. We have added a twist to this recipe by adding fresh fenugreek leaves which makes this dish packed with nutrition. You can experiment further by adding spinach to it if you want to make it more healthy.

Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Fresh fenugreek leaves- 1 cup (finely chopped)
- Whole wheat flour- 2 cups
- Gram flour (besan)- 1 cup
- Green chilli- 1 (finely chopped)
- Onion- 1 (medium, finely chopped)
- Carom seeds- ½ tsp
- Red chilli powder- ½ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Water- ½ cup
- Oil or ghee- 3tbsp
Procedure
- Mix wheat flour, gram flour, salt, fenugreek leaves, chilli, onion, carom seeds, red chilli powder and one teaspoon of oil in a wide-mouthed bowl.
- Add little water as needed. Since the methi leaves also release water, add less water at first.
- Knead this mixture into a semi soft dough.
- Make medium sized balls out of this dough.
- Roll out these balls into thin chapatis.
- Heat a tawa and fry these chapatis in oil or ghee as required.
- Cook on both sides and then transfer it to a plate.
- Repeat the same procedure to make more rotis.
- Stack in a roti basket and serve.
Methi missi roti is ready to be served. Serve it with your choice of curry, yogurt or pickle.
