Green Peas Chutney For Plain Dosa
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day! To have a healthy breakfast you should make sure that it has delicious contents as well. In most Indian homes, you will see dosa and idlis on the dining table, first thing in the morning and along side a relishing chutney.
To spice things up a little and to make your breakfast seem a lot more interesting, you can try your hand with green peas. Though, it sounds a little eeky at first, this green peas chutney recipe is actually superb in taste and texture. Most of all, it goes well with dosa and with rava idlis (to be specific).
PAIR THIS YUMMY CHUTNEY WITH OIL FREE DOSA (recipe)
The green peas chutney is ideally paired with plain dosa. Since there is no masala in the dosa, the green peas chutney acts a substitute in taste. Here is the green peas chutney recipe to try out this morning for breakfast.

Serves: 3
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Green Peas - 1 cup
- Grated Coconut - 1 cup
- Chopped Onions - 1 medium
- Slit Green Chillies - 2 small
- Grated Ginger - 1 tbsp
- Grated Garlic - 1 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Water - as required
- Oil - 2 tbsp
Procedure
- You need to first wash and drain the water from the fresh green peas and keep it aside.
- Now heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan, wait for it to get hot. When hot, add the finely chopped onions and saute it till it turns translucent.
- Add in the green chillies, grated ginger and garlic. Saute these ingredients for about 3 minutes on a low flame.
- When cooked add in the green peas. Sprinkle a little salt and stir well using a flat spoon.
- Add in the grated coconut to the pan and give it a good stir. Now cover the pan and allow it to cook for a few minutes till the peas are cooked.
- When done, allow for the peas to get a little cool. Grind the mixture in the grinder with just a little water to form a coarse paste.
Your green peas chutney is now ready to eat. Serve it with plain dosa to get desired results.
