Sweet Treat: Eggless Caramel Custard Recipe
A sweet treat after dinner is always welcome. And if it is caramel custard, then nothing like it. Most of the time, we get totally worked up about calories and do not enjoy desserts as much as we should. Besides, it is tough to make desserts especially when you are a working couple with a tight work schedule. But with a little extra effort you can make this eggless caramel custard at home and give your family a happy surprise after dinner.
Caramel custard is a very popular dessert recipe all over the world. This pudding recipe is easy to make and is an ideal dessert to have after meal. A mild vanilla flavouring is used in this pudding recipe.
Caramel custard is prepared using egg in the normal versions. But today we will give you a recipe which doesn’t contain egg. Therefore, vegetarians can also make this dessert at home and enjoy it to its fullest.
So, lets take a quick look at this eggless caramel custard recipe and give it a shot tonight.

Serves: 3
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
All you need
- Milk- 2 ½ cups
- Custard powder- 3tsp
- Sugar- ¼ cup
- Vanilla essence- ½ tsp
- Sugar- 2tbsp (for caramelising)
Procedure
1. In a pudding mould, add the sugar for caramelising with one teaspoon of water and continue cooking until it becomes brown. Spread it all over the mould, rotating the mould to spread the caramelised sugar evenly.
2. The sugar will harden in 10 minutes.
3. Keep aside half a cup of milk. Mix the custard powder in this cold milk.
4. Boil the remaining milk with ¼ cup of sugar. When the milk starts boiling, add the custard and continue cooking until it is smooth. Make sure there are no lumps.
5. Add the vanilla essence. Mix well. Pour this mixture over the prepared mould.
6. Refrigerate till it sets.
7. Before serving, loosen the sides with a sharp knife and invert on a plate.
Eggless caramel custard is ready to be served. Enjoy this special sweet treat chilled.
