Vrat Ka Halwa: Navratri Sweet Recipe
With the festival of Navratri at its peak, everyday is a celebration all over India. The most crucial part of the festival is the custom of fasting for the nine auspicious days. During this time the people who fast follow some strict rules about the type of food they eat. Since there is no hard and fast rule about going completely without food, people eat dishes made from some special ingredients.
There are ingredients such as the buckwheat flour, rock salt, water chestnut flour etc. which can be eaten during the period of fasting. So, here we have a special sweet fasting recipe for you prepared with a combination of the buckwheat flour and water chestnut flour. You can eat this vrat ka halwa irrespective of whether you are fasting or not. It is an extremely delicious sweet recipe you can prepare during this festive season of Navratri.

So, get ready with the ingredients and give it a try. Here is the recipe of vrat ka halwa:
Serves: 4-5
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Singhare ka atta (water chestnuts flour)- ½ cup
- Kuttu ka atta (buckwheat flour)- ½ cup
- Ghee- 3tbsp
- Water- 2 cups
- Sugar- ½ cup
- Cardamoms- 3 (crushed)
- Almonds- 6 (sliced)
- Pistachios- 6 (sliced)
Procedure
- Heat ghee in a pan and add kuttu ka atta and singhare ka atta to it.
- Roast the flours on medium flame for about 5 minutes till their colour changes to light brown.
- Keep stirring it with a spatula and slowly add water to it.
- While stirring it continuously make sure there are no lumps formed.
- Now add the sugar and bring the mixture to boil. Keep stirring.
- Add the crushed cardamoms, pistachios, almonds and mix well.
- Stir for another 3-4 minutes till the halwa is in a semi-dry form.
- Once done, switch off the flame and serve.
Vrat ka halwa is ready to be served. This halwa is a perfect sweet recipe for those who are fasting during Navratri.
