Badam Ka Halwa: Janmashtami Spl Recipe
Janmashtami or Lord Krishna's birthday is just round the corner. If you are tired of making the same old recipes every year, then we have some great ideas for you. Lord Krishna loved anything that was sweet and milky. So how about making badam halwa for the playful deity. You can try this easy badam halwa recipe for this Janmashtami.
This recipe has been handed down generations as it is a traditional one. Ideally, badam ka halwa is not made specifically for Krishna Janmashtami. But you can always start the trend. It is a very basic Indian sweet dish recipe that everyone is bound to love.

Serves: 2
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
- Almonds -1/2 cup (soaked overnight and ground)
- Sugar -1/2 cup or 3/4 cup (depending on taste)
- Milk -1 cup
- Ghee -1/2 cup
- Saffron- a few strands (soak it in milk)
Procedure
- Melt ghee in a deep bottomed pan and spread it so that the halwa does not stick to the pan.
- In the same pan bring 1/4 cup of water to boil, switch off the flame, add sugar and stir the contents of the pan to dissolve the sugar
- Now add the badam paste, remaining milk, saffron and cook on medium flame while stirring continuously.
- Once it starts to thicken and the sides start drying up, add all the ghee and cook for 10 minutes while you keep stirring continuously on low flame. The ghee will get completely absorbed into the halwa will start leaving the sides of the pan. Now turn off the flame, add the remaining ghee and stir well to soften the halwa
- Once it cools, the halwa will get set nicely.
You can serve badam halwa chilled or at room temperature. You can also use this Janmashtami recipe to give bhog to Lord Krishna.
