Methi Prawns Curry Recipe
Are you tired of having the same old prawn curries? Quite frankly, I am! Most of our traditional Indian seafood recipes make use of coconut or mustard. The exotic prawn curries are either soy based or have some other sauce. Prawns are very versatile ingredients that you can cook with. So why not make the best use of it.
How about adding some methi to prawns? The combination and fenugreek (methi) and prawns is not such a common one. This dish is also an Indian seafood recipe. You will use of some very basic Indian spices to make Methi Prawns curry. Moreover, it is quick and pretty much effortless.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Prawns- 500 grams (shelled and de-veined)
- Wheat flour- 1 cup
- Turmeric powder- 1 pinch
- Onions- 2 (chopped)
- Garlic pods- 8
- Ginger- 1/2 inch
- Green chillies- 6
- Red chilli powder- ½tsp
- Kasuri methi (dry fenugreek leaves)- 2tbsp
- Curd- 1 cup
- Ghee- 1tbsp
- Salt-as per taste
- Oil- 2tbsp
Procedure
1. Rub the prawns with salt and turmeric powder. Leave them for 10 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a pan and when it is warm, roll the prawns in wheat flour (atta) and fry lightly for about 4-5 minutes.
3. Strain out the prawns and saute the onions in the same pan. Saute the onions on a low flame for 4-5 minutes.
4. Meanwhile make a paste of the garlic pods, ginger and green chillies in a grinder.
5. Pour this paste into the pan and add red chilli powder. Mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes.
6. Then whisk the curd and pour it into the pan. Stir well to mix it up and allow it to cook on a low flame for another 3-4 minutes.
7. After this add the fried prawns to the pan. Sprinkle kasuri methi and pour warm ghee into the pan.
8. Mix up all the ingredients and cook for 2 minutes on a low flame.
You can garnish it with fresh mint sprigs if you want. Methi prawns curry is ready to be served with steamed rice or hot roties.
