Mackerel Moong Dal Recipe For Dinner
One of the best dishes to make this evening is none other than seafood. Mackerel is one of those fish which has a certain taste and flavour when cooked with Indian spices. If you want to make your fish spicy and tangy at the same time, one trick to use in your dish is lemon and red chilli powder.
Fish is good food for children and for elderly adults to consume at least once in a week. Consuming fish, you will pamper your body with nutrients and proteins which is required to keep you healthy and active.

Lets take a look as to how you can prepare the mackerel moong dal fish tonight:

Cooking Time : 45 minutes
Ingredients
- Moong dal - 1 cup
- Onions - 1 (chopped )
- Tomato - 1 (chopped)
- Ginger paste - 1 tbsp
- Garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Green Chillies - 2 (sliced)
- Mackerel Fish - 4 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Red chilies - 3 (crushed)
- Bay leaves - 2 nos
- Cumin powder - 2 tbsp
- Cloves - 3 nos
- Cinnamon - 2 sticks
- Cardamom - 2 nos
- Garam masala - 2 tbsp
- Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
- Hing - a pinch
- Black pepper - 4 nos
- Oil for frying
- Salt to taste
Procedure
- Soak the dal in a bowl filled with water for half an hour.
- After half an hour, pressure cook the dal in the cooker with a little bit of turmeric powder.
- Now take the fish and cut it into half pieces each. Marinate the fish with turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt. Let it be aside for at least 45 minutes.
- In a pan, heat a spoon of oil and place the fish in the hot oil to fry. Let the fish fry till it is golden brown in colour.
- After the fish is fried, drain out all the excess oil from it.
- Take out one spoon of oil from the same pan in which you fried the fish.
- Using the same oil, add hing, salt, bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, red chilies and black pepper.
- After 2 seconds add in the chopped onions and let it fry on a medium flame till it turns into a golden brown colour.
- Now drop in the garlic, ginger and sliced green chilies and let it fry on a low flame.
- Add to the mixture the chopped tomatoes and let it simmer for about 2 minutes. '
- Sprinkle the coriander powder and the cumin powder to the mixture and give it a nice stir.
- Place the fried fish into the mixture and let it cook on simmer.
- Add the cooked dal and one cup of water to the above ingredients.
- Let it boil for 10 minutes or so, before you switch the flame off.
- After the mackerel moong dal is over, sprinkle a spoon of garam masala over the dish.
Your mackerel moong dal is now ready to eat. You can serve this tasty dish with rice.
