Cannes 2014: Sonam & Freida In 60s Style

Cannes Film Festival 2014 has so far been a feast for fashion lovers. We had the likes of Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett heating up the red carpet. There was the blast of hot fashion from Blake Lively who literally made the red carpet come alive. But no international event is complete without a little Indian 'tadka'. So we were waiting for Sonam Kapoor to reach Cannes 2014 and when she did, we finally felt that the fashion fiesta of Cannes Film Festival 2014 has started for us.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was dure to walk the red carpet on May 17th but she missed her flight to Nice. Freida Pinto was at Cannes 2014 just a day before Sonam. But the real flash of fashion comes only when we see all these L'Oreal girls show off their glamour quotient together. On Day 5 of Cannes 2014, both Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto walked the red carpet together for the premiere of the movie 'The Homesemen'. Needless to say they both looked stunning.

However, the interesting point here was that both Freida Pinto and Sonam Kapoor were on the Cannes 2014 red carpet in a very 60s inspired look. Freida Pinto's Cannes 2014 makeup was 'inspired by the 60s' as she herself posted on her twitter account. Sonam made no such declarations. But that 'faux-bob' is definitely too Audrey Hepburn-inspired to miss.

Sonam Kapoor On Red Carpet

Sonam Kapoor's black gown was a standard ballroom gown with the full bloated skirt and a embellished details.

The gown was a Elie Saab Spring 2014 collection. We had expected her to pick something like this but we wish she would have picked a more colourful gown instead of the sombre black one.

Faux Bob

As we have already said, Sonam Kapoor's look was harking back to the 60s Hollywood style. The false-do bob hair looked cute on her.

Red Lips

This black gown could not have been worn with any other lip colour but bright red. So blood red lips it was for Sonam Kapoor.

Chopard Jewels

Sonam Kapoor wore droplet diamond earrings from Chopard. They went quite well with the stunning gown and her specially styled faux bob hair.

Freida Pinto On The Red Carpet

Freida Pinto's entry on the red carpet was much more dramatic on the second occasion. She chose a bold gown with a blast of colour.

In Oscar de la Renta

Freida Pinto wore a coral and gold gown from the Oscar de la Renta's Fall 2014 collection. It was not something we expected her to wear but she managed to steal the show in it.

Golden Sequins

The play of gold sequins and embroidery on this coral gown with an upturned flap was simply breathtaking.

Hairdo

Freida's hairdo was simple but impressive. She side parted her hair severely and pulled it back into a low ponytail.

Sweetheart Neckline

Freida Pinto's Oscar de la Renta gown had a sweetheart neckline that looked solidly stunning as she left her neck bare.

Golden High Heels

Freida opted for pointed high heel pumps that were golden in colour. She also styled herself with gold jewellery to match the brightness of the gown.

60s Makeup

Freida has posted herself on Twitter that she tried smoldering makeup that was inspired by the 60s fashion trend.

Head-To-Head

In a comparison between Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto, we have to give it to the later Indian beauty this time. Sonam looked nice but her ensemble lacked colour. Freida on the other hand was bright and bold on the red carpet like a glow worm.
