The proper South Indian look will always be in trend. This is because, fashion that is genuinely traditional never goes out of style. The South Indian look is therefore a sure shot way to look stunning any day. However, you have to master the aesthetics of this look to get it right. You must know exactly what fashion accessories go well with the Southern belle style.
Yesterday, Sonam Kapoor wore Southern saree to promote her movie Raanjhnaa in Chennai. Sonam donned a Kanchipuram saree alongside co-star Dhanush who is in full Tamil attire. Sonam Kapoor's saree was a native weave from Chennai that is known for its Kanchipuram sarees. Sonam also carried the South Indian look with all its minute details.
If you too want to dress up in proper Southern style like Sonam, then you must know about all the accessories you need for the same. Start with a Kanchipuram saree and some fine gold jewellery. You will need to take care of other minor details like the gajra and bindi.
Here are some simple and specific tips that will help you master the South Indian look.

Kanchipuram Saree
Kanchipuram or kanjeevaram is the most popular type of saree in South India. Usually, it is the saree worn for weddings and other auspicious occasions. Sonam is wearing an orange and crimson saree with a golden yellow border.

Gajra
It is traditional for South Indian women to wear a garland of flowers in their hair. Sonam Kapoor is wearing white flowers in her hair. But there is also a variety of red flowers that is worn as gajra.

Border Blouse
When you are wearing a traditional South Indian saree, the blouse must match with your saree perfectly. The blouse piece with Kanchipuram sarees usually the same colour as the saree with a matching border for the sleeves.

Kajal or Kohl
Thick lines of kajal or kohl drawn over your eye-lids completes the Southern look. Sonam Kapoor has given her eyes a winged look using black kohl.

Heavy Gold Jewellery
Ethnic gold jewellery is best suited with Kanjeevaram sarees. Pure gold jewellery, especially the ones on the heavier side are usually worn by South Indian women.

Bindi
A large round and red dot at the centre of the forehead is one of the finer aesthetics of the South Indian look. Usually the bindi is made using kumkum.

Braided Bun
There are many different types of South Indian hairstyles. However, the braided bun is one of the most popular and easy one to try. Vidya Balan carried this hairstyle for her wedding.

Colourful Bangles
If you are going completely traditional, then you will be wearing gold bangles with your Kanchipuram saree. But you can always wear glass bangles matching your saree along golden ones. Veteran beauty Rekha does this very often.
