College fashion has little shelf life. It is gone almost as soon as you finish your 3 to 5 years of college. If you try to prolong the life your style statement in college artificially then you will only face ridicule. Some specific fads or accessory trends should be shed along with your college identity card. If you fail to do so, then you will be a tactical fashion disaster. People will not take you seriously, especially at work place.

1. Arm Bands: It is extremely fashionable to carry thick arm bands in college. Even the black arm band for protest becomes a style statement. But outside college, people find it cheeky, even wanna-be if you wear arm bands with your t-shirt and jeans. Restrict it to your gym wear after you pass out of college.

2. Wrist Bands: Be it the yellow Livestrong bands or the black rubber f*** bands, you cannot wear them to work. There is a time for rubber and elastic and it is past for you. Imagine how these cheap bands will look on your hand that flaunt a chic diamond ring! Shed the bands if you want to get on the bandwagon of success.

3. Torn Clothes: Clothes for older women can include the occasional torn jeans. Other than that, torn is out of fashion for you. Roughly cut t-shirts or hand cut shorts are a cool style statement in college. But afterward it simply looks too childish and unsophisticated.

4. Bags With Lots Of Badges: It is a sign of solidarity and fraternity to clip on as many 'social' messages you can on your college bag. If you carry the same bag to office, then it appears loud and unprofessional. So take out those 'Save The Tiger', 'LGBT' etc. tokens from your bag to be interview ready.

5. Message T-Shirts: College fashion is all about being more whacky than your neighbour. So when you wore a t-shirt saying 'My face is up there you moron' across the chest, your friends laughed. At office, your colleagues my find it slightly offensive. You do not want your boss to read this on your t-shirt just before your appraisal, do you?

6. Long Earring: Long danglers, jhumkas and other noisy accessories are the preferred style statement in college. But once you are out of college you can only wear these when you are dressed for an occasion. It cannot be a part of your regular wear unless you want to be termed loud.

7. Big Beads: While beads can still be used to accessorise your casuals, stay away from oversized beads. A beaded bracelet with your standard college attire of jeans and t-shirts looks cool. But with a salwar kameez or western formals, it is a disaster.
