Holi: How To Remove Holi Colour From Nails, Without Hurting Your Nail Enamel
Holi is around the corner and along with the play comes the problem of colour staining. Even though we are certain you have already gotten into the festive spirit, don't forget to take special care before and after the festival to prevent any damage to your hair and skin.
Apart from your skin and hair, your nails also suffer during holi - a lot.

Nevertheless, you should always take good care of your nails. The Holi colours can wreak havoc on your nails as your hands are constantly dipped in coloured water for a long period of time.
Here are some simple nail care tips to remove stubborn colours from your nails, so you don't have to worry about holi 2023!
How To Remove Holi Colour From Nails
To begin with, do not scrub the colour off your nails - this will only aggravate the enamel of your nails. The more you rub, the deeper the colour will seep. Do not rub or scrub your hands or nails harshly. Instead, be patient and first cleanse your entire body. Keep your nails for the last step.
Here are some tips for removing Holi colours from your nails:
1. Lemon
Lemon juice is an excellent way to whiten your nails after all the Holi colour has been applied.
Fill a bowl with lemon juice and soak your nails in it for approximately 10 minutes. Lemon juice has been shown to be an effective bleaching agent not only for treating yellow nails, but also for cleaning stains. The juice also strengthens brittle nails and reduces their likelihood of breaking [1].
2. Nail polish
This is another method of removing toxic and stubborn Holi colours from your nails. All you need to do is apply a coat of transparent nail polish and dip your fingers in lukewarm water. You can then add a few drops of almond oil to the solution and the colour will be easily removed.

3. Baking soda
All you need for this nail colour-clearing method are some ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen cabinet. These include baking soda, olive oil, and lemon juice. Combine these ingredients in a ratio of 2:1:1 [2].
Take an old toothbrush and dip it into the mixture. Make sure the mixture stays on the brush as you scrub the paste on your nails. You should scrub thoroughly and not harshly. You should scrub in a circular motion until your stains disappear. Finally, wash your hands with soap and water.
Dry your hands and moisturise them.
4. Dark nail polish, before holi
Even before you play Holi, paint your nails with a dark polish. Lighter shades will absorb the colour, so stay away from them.
5. Do not soak in hot water
During Holi, your nails may become brittle and dull-looking. We are sure you will be eager to remove the colour as soon as you return home. However, be careful not to soak your hands in hot water. The colour will stick to your nails rather than doing the opposite with hot water [3].

To soak your nails, always use room temperature or cold water.
On A Final Note...
Colours used for Holi can cause the nails to become brittle and dull, so it is important to take proper care of your nails. Have a wonderful time celebrating Holi!
